What is TORO Tattoo Removal and how does it work?
What is TORO Tattoo Removal?

TORO is an advanced laser treatment designed to target tattoo pigment while minimizing damage to the surrounding skin. The laser energy breaks tattoo ink into smaller particles, allowing your body to gradually clear the pigment over time.

During treatment, laser energy is delivered directly to the tattoo pigment. The ink absorbs the energy and breaks into smaller particles that your body can naturally process over the weeks following treatment. Each session continues this process, gradually fading the tattoo.

Yes! TORO is designed to treat the full spectrum of tattoo ink colors, allowing us to customize treatment based on the different pigments within your tattoo.

Different ink colors may respond at different rates, so some areas of a multicolored tattoo may fade faster than others. Factors such as the type of ink, depth of the pigment, age of the tattoo, and your individual response to treatment can also affect how quickly fading occurs.

During your consultation, we’ll evaluate your tattoo and create a treatment plan based on its unique colors and characteristics.

Complete removal cannot be guaranteed. Our goal is to safely achieve as much fading as possible, but results vary based on the tattoo and the individual.

Some tattoos become extremely difficult to see, while others may leave behind residual pigment, color changes, or a faint outline.

Absolutely! You don’t have to completely remove a tattoo to benefit from laser treatment.

If you’re planning a cover-up, a few TORO treatments can be used to lighten the existing tattoo, giving your tattoo artist more flexibility when creating your new design.

Yes! TORO can be used to fade or remove certain permanent makeup and cosmetic tattoos, including unwanted or outdated pigment.

Permanent makeup can change over time—brows may fade unevenly, colors can shift, or you may simply want a different shape or style. TORO allows us to target unwanted pigment and gradually fade the treated area over a series of sessions.

TORO may be used for:

  • Microblading and powder brows
  • Ombre brows
  • Combination brows
  • Other permanent eyebrow pigments
  • Certain cosmetic and permanent makeup tattoos

Permanent makeup requires special consideration because cosmetic pigments can respond differently than traditional tattoo ink. Some pigments may temporarily darken or change color when treated, which is why we recommend starting with a consultation and may perform a test spot when appropriate.

The number of treatments needed varies based on the pigment used, how deeply it was placed, its age and color, previous treatments, and your desired amount of fading.

Laser tattoo removal can be uncomfortable, and the sensation is often described as quick snapping or stinging against the skin. Treatments are generally relatively quick, especially for smaller tattoos and we will numb the area prior to treatment.

We’ll talk with you about what to expect and ways to keep you as comfortable as possible during your appointment.

Laser tattoo removal is designed to target tattoo pigment while limiting injury to the surrounding skin, but no laser procedure is completely without risk.

Scarring and changes in skin pigmentation are possible. Following your provider’s treatment schedule and aftercare instructions can help reduce the risk of complications.

If your tattoo already has raised or textured scar tissue, removing the ink may make that existing scarring easier to see.

Possibly. If you’ve had previous laser tattoo removal treatments, we’ll evaluate the area before continuing treatment. Your provider will look at the remaining pigment, skin condition, any scarring, and your previous treatment history to determine whether TORO is appropriate.

How many treatments will I need?

There is no one-size-fits-all number of sessions. The number of treatments needed depends on several factors, including the tattoo’s size, age, ink colors, depth, location, and how your body responds to treatment.

Some tattoos may fade significantly after only a few sessions, while others require a longer treatment series. We’ll evaluate your tattoo and discuss realistic expectations during your consultation.

We recommend waiting approximately 8–12 weeks between TORO tattoo removal treatments. This gives your skin time to fully heal while allowing your body time to continue processing and clearing the fragmented tattoo pigment.

Your provider may recommend adjusting the timing based on your tattoo, treated area, skin response, and healing progress.

Waiting between sessions is an important part of the removal process. Treating a tattoo more frequently does not necessarily mean it will fade faster, which is why we allow your body time to do its part between treatments.

Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, or a whitening/frosted appearance of the treated area can occur immediately following treatment. Some patients may also experience temporary blistering or changes in the treated skin as it heals.
